SARF, in association with the South African Road Traffic Sign Manufacturers Association (SARTSMA), hosted the first Sign Maintenance Management course in Gauteng on the 28th February – 1st March. The course, aimed at Resident & Assistant Resident Engineers, Sign Practitioners, Technologists, Technicians, Project Managers, Site Supervisors & staff responsible for the verification and installation of Road Traffic Signs, has been designed to provide delegates with the necessary skills and knowledge to demonstrate competency across a full range of required duties during the display, replacement and removal of Road Traffic Signs and focuses on inventory, evaluation, costing, prioritisation, execution and record keeping in a cost effective manner of the installed signage, in compliance with South African legislation. Delegates can claim 2 ECSA CPD points for attendance. Feedback comments from the 12 attendees at the first course, which included Consultant Engineers, Municipal Engineers, Construction Companies, Traffic Sign Manufacturers, Traffic sign Installers & Suppliers to the Traffic Sign Industry, were extremely positive and further courses are planned to be rolled out nationally in the near future.
