On the 2nd September, Garry Savill, SARTSMA chairman, presented a training workshop to representatives from Civil Concepts, WBHO & Lonerock entitled “An Introduction to Reflective Sheeting for Road Traffic Signs” in Rustenburg. The presentation format provided the attendees with an overview of current regulations, SANS standards and design policy of road traffic signs, as well as a basic introduction to how the different retro reflective sheeting technologies work, the difference in performance of the retro reflective sheeting products, where improved retro reflective efficiency performance can be beneficial for improved road safety and how to differentiate and select effective retro reflective sheeting products for “efficient” road traffic signs. Comment received from the attendees confirmed that the workshop was extremely beneficial and the possibility of providing further workshop sessions was discussed.
